Wadi El Seboua : Leave port on your voyage across Lake Nasser, Egypt's vast man-made inland-sea, formed by the waters held behind the Aswan High Dam. As you head south towards Wadi el Seboua, you have time to relax on deck, take a dip in the pool, read up on Egyptian history, and get to know your fellow travelers. Breakfast, lunch and dinner while sailing. Overnight on board. |

Dakka/Amada : Your first stop is at the Temple of Wadi el Seboua, dedicated to two of ancient Egypt's most powerful gods: Amon Ra and Ra Harmakis. Your next visit is to the Temple of Dakka, dedicated to the god Thot, the god of divine wisdom, lord of times and science, master of literature. Visit the Greco-Roman temple of Meharaka. Sail to Amada and visit its temple dating back to the 18th dynasty, built during the reign of Thotmosis III, Amenophis III and Thotmosis IV. Continue to the hemi-speos of Derr dedicated to the rising sun and finally visit the tomb of Penout, the powerful viceroy of Nubia. Sail to Kasr lbrim. |
Kasr Ibrim/Abu Simbel : As the sun brightens the lakeshores, gaze at the citadel of Kasr lbrim, a once-mighty fortress that time and weather have rendered fragile; the only structure of its kind still in existence in its original location. Explanation is made from the deck of the ship as entrance to the site is not permitted. Sailing for Abu Simbel and lunch on board. Visit the great temples. These temples have been saved from the rising waters of Lake Nasser through international efforts headed by UNESCO. The structures were moved to higher grounds and placed again in the same directions to catch the sun rays penetrating inside the temple of Ramses II and illuminating the face of his statue on the day of his coronation and the day of his birth (Feb. 22 & Oct. 22). |
Return to the boat to enjoy an open-air candlelight dinner on board (weather permitting). |
Optional : The spectacular Sound & Light show at the temple is a highlight of this Tour. |
Abu Simbel/Aswan : Arise at dawn to enjoy the extraordinary vision of the Temples of Abu Simbel (on Feb. 22 and Oct. 22 witness the sacred sunlight penetrating deep into its holy of holies as its architects intended). Possibility of a 2nd visit to the Temples of Ramses II and his wife Nefertari (additional fees for 2nd visit). Disembarkation |
